Following the teaser image last week, this video by photographer Neil Roberts has officially gone viral. It finally offers a good look at the new direction Stiaan Louw is exploring in his forthcoming collection. The video sees Thane Williams in leather football inspired gear, geisha platforms (Missibaba), boxing robes and the introduction of sleek lapeled jackets (not seen from Stiaan before) with more focus on modern tailoring and fit, he even includes a leather jockstrap for effect. Quite the polar opposite to his last show in that right but he maintains his signature look and feel with the more elaborate pieces assembled by stylist and art director, Michael Cooper, who made this his last collaboration with the designer before relocating to London.

Models used by Louw in the past have always possessed the right qualities of good-looks and lean muscle but with his strong view on the male physique comes across a lot clearer now with Thane on-board as the designers latest muse. I can see with the success of Dylan Armstrong and Eric Bester post-Louw this may just be the magical formula to catapult local boys to an international level. Especially now as Louw has the international world watching more closely.
